Learn4Life student receives $10,000 scholarship from University of Antelope Valley
Learn4Life (l4L) student, Alani Dunlap got a little help to continue her education after graduation with a scholarship from University of Antelope Valley (UAV). UAV offers this scholarship opportunity to schools in the Antelope Valley to ensure that local students are aware of local community college/career options available to them.
Alani was one of nearly 50 students entered into a raffle at the Learn4Life Senior Success Kick Off Event on Nov. 3, 2016. All students entered in the raffle were required to be present at the Senior Success Kick Off and complete a number of tasks including: meeting with a counselor to complete senior advising requirements, speaking with two post graduate presenters, and signing up for the L4L Virtual Job Shadow Program College and Career program.
Eligible students also had to be in good academic standing (at least a 2.0 GPA),
on tract to graduate in June 2017, be recognized as a student with good citizenship skills and recommended by a counselor as a student who would benefit from UAV’s scholarship opportunity.
Alani was presented with the scholarship by her Learn4Life counselor and supervising teacher, tutors, executives, as well as UAV student advisors.
Aside from her studies, Alani takes advantage of all that Learn4Life has to offer. Not only does she make the most of her counseling, tutoring, and personal one on one meetings with her supervising teacher, but Alani is also actively involved in dance classes, spirit squad, and the Interact committee.
